St Michael & All Angels Berwick

St Michael and All Angels, Berwick is a Grade 1 listed building.  Although it may well have Saxon or Norman origins, it was heavily restored in 1856 to designs by local Victorian architect, Henry Woodyer.  The 20th century Bloomsbury wall paintings by Duncan Grant, Vanessa Bell and Quentin Bell attract over 10,000 visitors per year from all over the world.

The church is currently undergoing major building work associated with the National Lottery Heritage Fund project to conserve the paintings and stabilise the interior of the church to prevent further deterioration of the paintings.  The work began in September 2019 when the church was closed.  It is due to reopen in March 2020.
